Experience Colorado’s Hottest Destination: Glenwood Springs
Glenwood Springs is located in Garfield County, Colorado and is a Home Rule Municipality rich in tourism and recreational activities. It is most famous for its hot springs pool. The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge and Pool is home of the largest natural hot springs pool in the entire world. Visitors can come soak in the pool heated to a steamy 104 degrees or swim in the swimming pool heated to 98 degrees. The location even has a smaller pool for children. Because the pool is super heated and full of salty minerals, which of course is a natural phenomenon, it is one of Colorado’s most popular attractions.
There are other activities in Glenwood Springs besides a therapeutic dip in the swimming pool. Many tourists enjoy rafting, kayaking and fishing in the area, because both the Colorado River and Roaring Fork River meet in Glenwood Springs. Just a short distance away there is the Roaring Fork Valley, which has mountain bike trails for travelers. The most popular routes are the Forest Hollow Trail, the Scout Trail and the Red Mountain Trail.
Mountain biking does require some stamina, and if the challenge is too steep there are also plenty of biking trails in the area. In fact, the recreation trail through Glewood Canyon is about 16 miles long and is ideal for family traveling and casual biking. The Glenwood Caverns is of interest to visitors who love geology. Visitors are transported by tram and taken through the caverns to arrive at the recreational complex on top of the mountain. There they can find rides, children’s activities, restaurants and an observation deck that offers a splendid view of the valley below.
The Glenwood Community Center is a large community building that has a variety of sporting and social activities, including an ice rink, a climbing wall, an internet lab, a banquet area, a day care center, a gymnasium, a tennis court, a dance studio and an aquatic center with swimming lanes. Last but not least, a skiing resort is always nearby, whether you travel up to Aspen or west of Vail. Within the triangle of Glenwood Springs, Aspen and Vail there are six world class ski resorts that offer exciting winter sports.
However, the most prominent feature of the community is the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge and Pool. At over 405 feet long and 100 feet wide, this pool will keep you refreshed throughout the year.
